Robert Duane Lee

1935 - 2024

Robert "Duane" Lee passed away peacefully in his home with his "million-dollar view" at the age of 88. Services are pending and will be announced when completed. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Duane was born on August 9, 1935, in Crosby, North Dakota to Herman and Ragna Lee. He moved to Fairview, North Dakota in 1948, where he graduated high school. He served his country in the United States military, beginning in the National Guard and later serving in the Army and Army Reserves from 1954 to 1964 with part of that time spent in Germany, before receiving an honorable discharge. He took great pride in serving his country.

On August 21, 1959, Duane was joined in marriage to Elaine Berntson. During their marriage, they were blessed with two sons, Michael and Mark, and one daughter, Michele.

Duane began his career driving truck for Farmer's Union in Minot, North Dakota in 1963, later relocating to Glendive, Montana. He transitioned to Suhr Transport, which later became Mitchell's Oil Field Service in 1988, where he faithfully worked until his retirement in 2000.

In retirement, Duane found joy in camping, tending to his yard and the garden, repairing lawn mowers, tinkering in his garage, and creating woodworking projects for his family. Duane enjoyed time spent with his family whether it was playing cards or marbles or just sitting on the front porch. His craftsmanship and love for nature brought him much satisfaction.

Duane is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Elaine; his children Michael (Mary) Lee, Mark (Sheenagh) Lee, and Michele (Joel) Nunberg; his grandchildren Deidra (Michael) Anevski, Eryn (Thad) Rule, Amy Lee, Raquel (Joshua) Higgins, Steven (Shantel) Lee, and Courtney (Aaron) Gies; and his great-grandchildren Mikai, Daelyn, Colin, Sawyer, Daunti, Zoey, and Holden.

He will be remembered fondly for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his passion for both.

A Memorial Service will be held to honor and celebrate Duane's life on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive with Pastor Chuck Rushing officiating. Following the service, military honors and a reception will be held at Duane's house. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Glendive Community Cancer Fund in memory of Duane Lee.
