"Life is about getting up one more time than you have been knocked down." (John Wayne) That was Ron Stroh, life never slowed him down.
Ronald John Stroh, 79, of Glendive, MT passed away on September 18th 2025. He was born on May 31st 1946 to John Stroh and Magdalena Dukart in Dickinson, ND. He was the 2nd of four children. He attended the rural country school and later attended high school in Killdeer, ND. In 1964 Ron met Connie on a blind date at a country dance. They were married on August 26th, 1966 in Killdeer, ND. Together they had 3 sons Randy, Greg and Travis. In 1967 they permanently settled in Glendive, MT moving in the mid 70's to the farm they have called home for the last 50 years.
Ron spent many years working on the interstate for numerous construction companies and in 1977 he went to work for LP Anderson out of Glendive, MT. In 1990 when LP Anderson sold, he went to work for Century out of Lewistown, MT. He was a heavy equipment operator, operating every piece of equipment on the job site. His favorite was operating motor patrol or the blade and completing the finish work. Ron bladed roads across Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming. All 3 of his sons and his wife worked with him in the construction industry throughout the years. After working for Century for 25 years he was forced to retire when he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. He may have retied but he never slowed down. He could either be found at the sales barn on Fridays, having coffee with friends like Chuck Bondley, watching his grandkids' sporting events, hand feeding and petting his cows or sinking the bobcat in the latest mudhole.
He spent countless hours with his friend John Hess breeding and breaking horses. Ron was a bit of an animal whisperer, horses, cattle, dogs and later cats were his companions. His love for horses and cattle was something he shared with his children and grandchildren leaving a mark that will never fade.
He was proceeded in death by his parents John and Magdelena Stroh, Sister Susan Dolajak, and Brother Kenneth Stroh and his favorite dog Buddy.
