Alice Corinne Pluimer

Alice Corinne Pluimer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, quick wit, and the love she shared with all those fortunate enough to know her.

Born on December 17, 1926, in Lead, SD, Corinne Pluimer was the daughter of Fred P. Stephens and Gertrude (Blake) Stephens. She attended Todd School near St. Onge for grades 1 to 4, and later continued her education at Belle Fourche High School in South Dakota, where she completed grades 5 to 12.

Her passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in nursing, and she attended the St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, CO, from 1944 to 1947. There, she earned her Bachelor's degree and became a Registered Nurse in 1947.

Corinne dedicated her life to providing compassionate care to those in need as a Registered Nurse. She worked at John Burns Hospital in Belle Fourche, SD, Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene, OR, and Spokane Valley General in Spokane, WA. Her commitment to her patients and her profession left an indelible mark on all those she cared for.

On August 10, 1953, Corinne married the love of her life, Allman "Red" Pluimer. Together, they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter, joy, and cherished memories. They shared a deep bond, as they worked through the ups and downs of the journey of marriage. Corinne's faith became the source of her strength and life during her husband's struggle with cancer. Red preceded her in death in 1992.

Corinne's legacy lives on through her daughter, Kay Valentine, and her husband, Kent. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to her grandchildren: Joshua Valentine and wife Bree, Tiffany Jansen and husband Jared, and Jordan Valentine and wife Mia. The joy in her life extended to her great-grandchildren: Adam Strongman, John Valentine, Brylee Jansen, Brooklynn Jansen, Declan Jansen, Jedidiah Valentine, Bristol Jansen, Thaddeus Valentine, Daxton Jansen, and Judah Valentine. She was a constant source of love and wisdom in their lives.

Corinne is survived by her sister, Faye Wassenaar, and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be forever remembered by her extended family and friends for her unwavering love and support.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Red; her parents, Fred and Gert Stephens; parents-in-law, Fred and Grace Pluimer; sister, Norma; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Corinne Pluimer will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, compassion and Christian faith will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her kind spirit and selflessness will forever be remembered and cherished.

Interment will be at the Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. A funeral service to celebrate Alice's life will follow at Kirk Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m.
