Clarence Haas Obituary

SPEARFISH - Clarence Harold Haas, 86, Spearfish, SD, went to heaven Thursday, January 13, 2005, at the David M. Dorsett Health Care Facility in Spearfish. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church on Monday, January 17, 2005. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Dan Kent officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City, SD. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to benefit the Northern Hills Training Center, 625 Harvard St., Spearfish, SD 57783. Clarence was born on March 28, 1918, to Harold and Elizabeth (Vaughn) Haas in Whitewood, SD. The family lived in various places in the Black Hills, including Nemo and Moskee, before settling in Rapid City. He spent some of his earlier years helping on his uncle's ranch and other ranches in the area. His family helped to form the Black Hills Workshop and Training Center in Rapid City. Clarence received services there from 1955 until 1965. He moved to Spearfish in 1977 and received services from the Northern Hills Training Center. He was proud to be among the first clients at both the Black Hills Workshop and the Northern Hills Training Center. Clarence touched the lives of many people in his own special way. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Ellen (Peter) Dahlberg, Rapid City, SD, and Florence (Don) Antholz, Atwood, KS; one brother, Roger (Faye) Haas, Ft. Collins, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Jane Grams, and one brother, Don Haas. Arrangements have been placed in the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel of Spearfish.
