David, Did I know you at the School of Mines in 1961? Sorry to hear about your father.

To Don's family. Rapid City has lost one of its most historic, decent, devoted, and humble citizens. The RCJ got it just right. And Don was a close advisor to every mayor of RC during the post World War II era. JoAnn and I extend our best wishes to Don's family and friends. His wisdom, humor, and decency will be missed. We only met your Dad one time at David and Darbi's wedding reception. He and your Mom looked so happy. I know he will be greatly missed; Darbi always has wonderful things to say about "Grandpa Don". Our prayer is that God comforts you at this time of loss.

Dear Dave and family,
I don't know if you remember me, but we have crossed paths here and there over the years. I want you to know that my heart is with you and your family. I remember your Dad on so many occasions whereby he would lighten the atmosphere and make us laugh. I worked on the 2nd floor of the Mellgren Building for Brablec Construction for several years and remember your Dad so lovingly. I can't tell you how much he would brightened our days with his sense of humor. My heartfelt thoughts to you and your family... Susan Sharp

Betty and I had known Don and Eileen for a number of years and considered them to be among our very best friends. I met Don shortly after moving to Rapid City back in about 1947 or so and then we at one time lived neighbors to them on Staton Place for several years and became very close to them and their children. We always admired Don a great deal for all that he had accomplished. We also enjoyed his family and had lots of fun with David and Keith. Our sympathy goes out to the entire family. We know that he will be greatly missed by his family and by the community. Ray and Betty Wendling
