WESSINGTON SPRINGS | Evelyn Moore, 86, of Wessington Springs, died suddenly Sunday evening, July 22, 2012, at her residence.

Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. CDT Friday, July 27, at the Basham Funeral Home in Wessington Springs, SD, with Rev. Russ Seger officiating. Burial will be Monday, July 30, at 1:30 p.m. at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. Friends may call at the Basham Funeral Home Friday from 1 p.m. until time of service.

Evelyn Eileen (Ferguson) Moore was born to Frank and Katherine (Koch) Ferguson on February 25, 1926, on a farm near Hitchcock, SD. She attended country school until the family moved to Huron nine years later. Evelyn graduated from Huron High School in 1944. She attended the College of Commerce in Huron. After attending college Evelyn worked for Social Services in both Clark and Yankton, SD.

She married Merwyn E. Moore on December 30, 1945, and they moved to Jamestown, ND where they started their family. In 1953 they moved to Rapid City where Merwyn and his brother Francis opened Rapid Furniture and Appliance. Evelyn worked for the South Dakota State Health Office and the Black Hills Federal Credit Union. They retired to Wessington Springs in 1996.

Evelyn enjoyed playing her organ, listening to music, spending time with her family and friends and traveling with her husband.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Rob (Rose) Moore, Mitchell, SD, and Jim (Hansie) Moore, Rapid City, SD; and daughter, Jan (Loren) Geske, Rapid City, SD; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Helen McNutt, her husband Merwyn and one granddaughter Michele.
