Mr. Hubert Audry "Herb" Puckett

1949 - 2009

Herb Puckett, 59, formerly of Belle Fourche, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Hubert Audry Puckett was born July 24, 1949, to Hubert and Ila Puckett in Boonville, MS. He married Yvonne Juhala and they made their home in Belle Fourche. They raised four children during the 33-year marriage: Kris (Wes) Cook and Jason Puckett, all of Belle Fourche, Steven Juhala, Upton, WY, and Charles Juhala, Cascade Lock, WA; as well as one grandchild. Yvonne passed away in 2007.
Herb was employed at American Colloid, where he retired in 2009. He also retired from the Belle Fourche Ambulance Service in 2008. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Among his many interests was his love of fishing and his faith. He found his home at the Northern Hills Church of Christ in Spearfish. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Besides his many friends, Herb leaves behind his wife, Maryanna Puckett; three sons; one daughter; one stepdaughter, Tamara Bennet, Shreveport, La.; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Puckett, Sheffield, AL, and Phillip Puckett, Florence, AL; one sister, Ramona Wright, Tuscaloosa, AL; and 14 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne; his parents; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, at the Northern Hills Church of Christ in Spearfish. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
