James Bear Robe

OGLALA - James Bear Robe, 49, Oglala, died Thursday, July 22, 2010, in Rapid City. Survivors include two sons, James Bear Robe Jr. and John Bear Robe, both of Oglala; a stepson, Paul Nava, Oglala; two daughters, Jamie Bear Robe and Williona Bear Robe, both of Oglala; two stepdaughters, Amy Swallow, Red Shirt, and Chevya Eagle Louse, Oglala; two brothers, Cecil Bear Robe and Johnson Bear Robe, both of Oglala; an adopted brother, Mark Butterbrodt, Pine Ridge; a sister, Leona Broken Nose, Oglala; and a grandchild. A two-night wake will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Loneman School in Oglala. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, at the school, with the Rev. Agnes Tyon officiating and traditional Lakota services by Richard Broken Nose. Burial will be at St. Peter's Episcopal Cemetery in Lakeside. Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
