Julia Pederson Obituary

VOLGA - Our mom and best friend went to heaven on Saturday, September 1, 2007 with all her family and a caring staff at Brookview Manor by her side. Her suffering from the progression and complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) is over. Julia was born December 31, 1933 to Philip and Ruby Pearl (Schaap) Sonen on the Sonen farm in Moody County. She married Milton Pederson on August 26, 1952 at Pipestone, Minnesota. They farmed in Lake and Brookings Counties until Milt passed away in 2004. Grateful for having shared her life and wisdom are her six children, Kathy (Bob) Cheatham of Mesa, AZ, Susan (Ken) Beckley of Brookings, Doug (Julie) Pederson of Volga, Joan (Bruce) Rottum of Rapid City, Betsy (Roger) Beckley of Lennox and Dave (Jody) Pederson of Volga; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Phil (Nyla) Sonen of Madison; one sister, Brenda (Laurence) Roberts of Sioux Falls; her mother-in-law, Olga Pederson of Brookings; special friends, Janelle Lengkeek and Sheila Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Milton, her parents and her sister, Janet Hockhausen. To learn more about ALS, visit the web site, www.ALSA.org. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 5, 2007, Grace Lutheran Church, Nunda, SD, Rev. Gary Lissie, Officiating. Visitation: 4 PM until 7 PM, Tuesday, Rude's Funeral Home, Brookings, SD.
