Ruth Dawn Charles
RAPID CITY - Ruth Dawn Charles, 79, Rapid City, passed away May 26, following her transition to hospice care in Broomfield, CO. A memorial service to celebrate Ruth's life will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 15 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid City. (Live stream available: www.calvaryrapidcity.org) A time of fellowship and sharing will follow the service.
Ruth was profoundly loved and respected both professionally and personally. Ruth served as a realtor in Rapid City for four decades. More than helping people buy and sell real estate, she helped people find homes where they could thrive and enjoy their families and friends. Ruth was also an amazing spouse, mom, grandma, and friend. Her beloved husband, Bill, passed away in 2015. Ruth was a bonus mom and grandma to many beyond their children: Bill Charles IV, Tom Whillock, Jeff Whillock, Tom Charles and Julie Martinez. Ruth welcomed all with love, care and understanding.

Ruth and I first met as teenagers. Even then the beauty of her heart was as evident as her pretty red-haired presence. Though our lives took different paths we remained friends for the next 65 years. My condolences to Tom, Jeff, Julie and all of her family and friends. Love you always, Ruth.

Ruth was a true gem and such a generous, caring, and loving person. As I´ve said before... now that she is no longer here, she can be everywhere... she is free from pain, from sorrow, and from her body, that was never able to fully contain her larger than life spirit. Love and prayers to Tom, Jeff, Julie, and all of Ruth´s bonus kids. I was blessed to have her as a bonus mom and loved her dearly. I´m so happy she is with her beloved Bill, but know she will be so missed by all of us.
