Sandra Kathleen George was born October 9, 1950, in Hamilton, Mont. Sandy was the youngest of four children. She grew up in Hamilton, graduating from high school there while enjoying all the beauty of the Bitterroot Valley. She met her first husband, Jerry Berner, while working at Paul's Pancake Parlor in Missoula. The couple lived outside Wolf Point, Mont., where their first child, Natasha Dawn, was born in 1970. Heather Sunshine came soon after in 1971. Sandy's and Jerry's marriage ended after a few years when she met Layne Voegele. She left her marriage to Jerry and began her second marriage to Layne. Sandy and Layne lived on a large ranch in the Missouri Breaks about 60 miles from Circle, Mont. She had her third child, Amber Rose, in 1977. Aaron Layne, Sandy's youngest with Layne, was born in 1983. Sandy lived with her family at the ranch until 1991, when they moved closer to Circle, in a home near Vida, Mont. Layne, Sandy, and Aaron moved to Lewistown in 1998. And eventually, Sandy moved back to Hamilton, Mont., to the home she grew up in before spending her final years in Livingston, Mont.

Sandy spent her life enjoying and exploring nature, maintaining her gardens, taking care of any and all animals in her life, and raising and loving her children. She watched all of her children play sports and graduate and leave home. She was alive to welcome seven amazing grandchildren into the world; Haley, Harper, Osker, Sy, India, Luella, and Frances. She was a caretaker for her children and for her animals. Sandy worked at High Heat in Lewistown while she lived there. She enjoyed working and the camaraderie with her coworkers. Sandy was a beautiful soul. She was a loving person who cared deeply about her family and nature. She touched many people and she will be greatly missed.
