Susan Lee (Firkins) Frey
Susan Lee Frey, 60 of Corvallis traveled home to be with Jesus Sunday August 9th, 2020 at St Patrick's Hospital in Missoula, MT.
Susan was born August 7th, 1960 to Stephen and Floralee Firkins in Hamilton MT. She came into this world joining her brother Steve Jr. Raised in the Bitterroot as a youth she enjoyed attending youth group, cheerleading and other school activities. She graduated from Corvallis High School in 1978 and after attended school to be a barber, she enjoyed cutting hair throughout life. Susan and Rick married on April 5th, 1980 and were later blessed with three sons Jeffrey, Derick, and Bryant
She dedicated her life to her family and others, she was always looking for the joy in life, and finding the brighter side. She found great joy in running her own daycare from home where she could enjoy more time with her children and for many years worked side by side with her husband, Rick, as they cared for and taught many children together, guiding them through the early years of life. She showed every child that came through the door love and compassion as she helped to mold them for the future. To many she was more like "grandma" Susie.
Over the years Susan always wanted to better herself and did so through continued education, earning her early childhood education degree through UM Western that gave her even more tools to teach all types of children. She also dispatched trucks and helped manage her parents trucking company along with various other ventures throughout the years. She was a hard worker and did not easily give up!
She was kind and generous, not the type to turn a cold shoulder to those in need nor run from a challenge. She was always giving something to others and never asking in return. Even when she was the one in a greater state of need than those she helped.
Susan is survived by her Husband Rick and their three sons, Jeff and Teresa and child soon to join us, Derick and Vianna and children Avianna and Daxton, Bryant and Darlene and children, Katie and Lena; brother, Steve and Ruthanne Firkins and their three children.
Susan is preceded in death by her father Stephen Firkins, grandparents, Elmer and Flora (Tinder) Stephens, and Harold and Nellie (Goodnough) Firkins.
Like mom said, "God has me under his wings and it's a great ride." She doesn't want us to be sad for her, she's in a better place. We are sad for what we no longer have. Her home will forever be in the hearts of her family, may it always provide a place of love and comfort. God does have you under his wings now, hold on and enjoy the ride! One day we will join you there.
A graveside service was held August 14, 2020 at Corvallis Cemetery followed by a Life Celebration to focus on the joy of having been blessed by Susan's presence with us here on God's green earth. Please consider potting or planting something outdoors in memory of Susan Lee (Firkins) Frey.
