He was born on Aug. 30, 1921, in Reading to the late Salvatore and Julia (Pucci) Pantaleo. He was married to Violet M. (Miles) Verdone-Pantaleo, who preceded him in death in 2002.
Mr. Pantaleo was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean conflict, serving in the United States Navy as a Seabee.
He attended the Wharton Extension School of Office Management and the Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute. He retired in 1985 after 44 years with Conrail, where he had been employed as a clerk and distribution manager.
Albert was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Reading; co-founder of the Hole-In-One Club; a member of Liberty Fire Company, Reading; and helped in starting the Riverfront Federal Credit Union.
He is survived by one son, Joseph A. Verdone, and his wife, Barbara, Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Verdone, Newmanstown; two nephews, Elmer Pantaleo, Reading, and Albert Pantaleo, Mifflinburg; and three granddaughters: Angela Verdone, N.C., Juliana Verdone, N.Y., and Aimee Najarian, West Lawn.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Jere L. Verdone, in June 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial with be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Paul's Church.
