Calvin Kauffman Obituary

Calvin James Kauffman, 90, formerly of Laureldale, died Dec. 3, 2006, at 8:55 a.m. in ManorCare Health Services, where he had resided since May 2004.

He was the husband of Mary M. (Slusser) Kauffman, who died Feb. 1, 2006.

Born in Reading on July 6, 1916, he was a son of the late Calvin Michael and Lily J. (Riegel) Kauffman.

Calvin was employed for a number of years with TrimMaster, Muhlenberg Township, and later as an electrician at Reading Body. He was as a self-employed plumber and electrician until his retirement.

He was a 1934 graduate of Reading High School.

Calvin was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

Calvin is survived by a daughter, Sharon E. (Kauffman), wife of Kevin Potteiger, Exeter Township.

Other survivors include a sister, Emma (Kauffman) Cocuzza, and a brother, Norman Kauffman, both of Temple.

There are also three grandchildren: Dennis Kauffman Jr., Trisha L. Noll and Jill M. Kauffman, and four great-grandchildren: Natalie E. Scianna, Emily R. Scianna, Kyle P. Noll and Kory S. Noll.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with the Rev. Grant Wickert officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial with military honors will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
