Dan was a well-respected designer/craftsman in our area. In addition to his privately commissioned residential work for clients, he made display pieces for Reading Museum, the reception area at Keystone Oncology, St. Joseph Cancer Center and various works for Reading Hospital.
Additionally, he was influential in setting up the wood studio in GoggleWorks. His restoration work can be viewed in Holy Spirit Lutheran Church. His pivotal work, “Super Bench,” has yet to find a home.
His surviving wife, Deborah “Debby,” for almost 43 years will miss his wit, candor and passion for those things he loved dearly.
His son, Peter Daniel Wire; and daughter, Christine “CeCe” Cushing Wire, wife of George Parish, would like him remembered as an old salty dog.
His grandkitties, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk and Hazel Kitty, send Best Fishes!
A memorial celebration will be held Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. in Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 421 Windsor St., at the corner of North Fourth and Windsor Streets.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605. John P. Feeney Funeral Home, in Reading's Centre Park Historic District, 625 N. Fourth St., Reading, is in charge of arrangements.

Debby, CeCe and Pete and George, Chris and I wish we could have been with all of you today to celebrate Dan...his life and loves and passions. A true Renaissance man he was. I think everyone who knew him, recognized that quality in him. Amidst pain, sorrow, and grief...we are grateful to have known your husband...your father...our friend. May calm and peace come to you
with love, Chris and Linda Fiora

Today's ceremony was a fitting testament to the man Dan was. How wonderful to have so many friends and family speak of their treasured memories of Dan. The planning and thought that went into the service (especially the music) made it a special day for all of us. We will miss him dearly.

To our classmate, CeCe, and her family: By reading Mr. Wire's obituary, we realize that many of his great qualities are shared by his wonderful children. His enthusiasm for life was obviously contagious.
May your many fond memories help you through this difficult time. May God bless your entire family.
