David Himmelberger Obituary

David L. Himmelberger, 78, died June 7, 2021 in his Muhlenberg Township residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Dolores Joan (Mullis) Himmelberger, to whom he was married August 1, 1964. Born, October 18, 1942, in Centre Township, he was a son of the late LeRoy and Anna (Stump) Himmelberger. David was a 1961 graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School, as well as a graduate of McCann School of Business. He was employed as a plastics technician with the former Polymer Corporation for 39 years, retiring in 2005. David served in the Army Reserves. He was a member of Bern United Church of Christ, Bern Township. An avid sports fan, David was a fan of the 49ers, Flyers, Phillies and NASCAR. He also enjoyed camping and going to the beach. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his two children: Michael D., husband of Leona J. Himmelberger of Reading and Dawn M. Ryder, and her boyfriend Dwayne Oxenreider of Mohrsville. Also surviving is his grandson, Maxwell L. Himmelberger; and his sister, Barbara A. Reed, wife of Gary Reed of Wernersville. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Todd Himmelberger, who died in August, 1966. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
