Born in Phoenixville, PA he was the son of the late Clinton and Mary Ella (Neyhart) Schaffer.
David was a graduate of Phoenixville High School, Class of 1955.
He worked at Synthane Taylor in Oaks until his retirement, and then worked part time at Keyser Miller Ford.
He was a member of Phoenix No 1 Fire Company.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing and going to the casinos.
Surviving is his girlfriend of 17 years, Delores Lantz; daughter, Cindy wife of Kenny Lennon; 3 sisters, Gloria Jean Daschsteiner, Patsy Gambino, Gail Schaffer; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Schaffer, and by brothers and sisters Walter Schaffer, Kenneth Schaffer and Wanda Ennis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the Devlin-Rosmos-Kepp Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA, on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow in Morris Cemetery, Phoenixville, PA.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
