David Shaner Obituary
David Hafer Shaner, 85, of Douglass Township, Montgomery County, died June 6, 2016 in Chestnut Knoll, Boyertown. He was the husband of Inge (Link) Shaner, whom he married December 9, 1978.
Born in his Pottstown home on October 7, 1930, he was a son of the late Warren A. Sr., and Alma R. (Hafer) Shaner.
David was a graduate of Pottstown High School.
He was employed as a technician for 38 years with Ford Electronics, Lansdale, retiring in 1995.
David was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a 54 year member of the American Legion, Boyertown.
David was a volunteer for 10 years with Meals-On-Wheels as well as a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
He is also survived by three sisters: Phyllis A. (Shaner), wife of Sherwood L. Yergey, of Pottstown; Anita L. (Shaner) Rutledge of Boulder, Colo., and Kathleen L. (Shaner), wife of Willard Bohner, of Emmaus.
David was predeceased by eight siblings: Frances Mosheim, Richard, Ruth, Arline Egolf, Armand, Warren Jr., Mildred and Gordon.
At David's request, services will be private. Burial with Military Honors will be in Frieden's Cemetery, Oley.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Caring Hospice Services, 400 Commerce Drive, Suite C, Fort Washington, PA 19034.

Mrs. Shaner,
I just found out about Dave's passing and I wanted to send my sympathy. My father and mother, Carl and Jane DiPietro, really appreciated Dave's friendship and I also had the pleasure of meeting him after may father's passing, and thought it was so sweet of him to keep in touch with my mother. I just wanted to tell you I thought he was a wonderful man!
