Donna Bowers Obituary

Donna R. Bowers, 78, passed away on November 28, 2020, in her Sinking Spring residence surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, Gary L. Bowers, passed away on May 21 of this year. They were blessed to have been married for 60 years. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late James Devine and Catherine E. (Kantner) Greiss and her step-father, Harvey R. Greiss. She was a graduate of West Reading High School in 1960 and Bryland School of Cosmetology. Donna was a hairdresser for 45 years last working from her home two weeks ago. She loved the relationships she formed with her customers over the years. She had many and varied interests including: music, singing in weddings when she was younger, shopping, exercise, and sharing stories with her best friend Mary. Her faith was very important to her and was a long-time member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God. She was also proud of her home and took immaculate care of it. Donna is survived by her children, Linda C., wife of Kerry Quimby, and Robert G. Bowers all of Sinking Spring; her grandson, Christopher M. Keller, Philadelphia; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Zoe and was predeceased by her four German Shepherds. Services will be private of the convenience of the family. Met Donna back in the late 60's when she worked for my dad at Feel-Fine. She looked just like her picture here. Donna was beautiful, bubbly, helpful, sweet - I thought she was wonderful. I know my dad thought the world of her. Had I known she was a hairdresser, I would have looked her up! RIP Donna.

Donna will always be the beautiful Mrs. Bowers to me. I became friends with Linda at Fairview Elementary School in first grade. I remember sleepovers at the Bowers’s house and fun days at Shillington Pool. My husband, Mike, tells everyone “Only Donna Bowers has ever cut my hair for 43 years!” Of course, he took our son , Ryan, to her also and he continued going to her till this day. Our prayers are with you, Linda and Bobby. You were very fortunate to have such a wonderful mother. Take care

Donna and I became friends 10 years ago! She was so kind and friendly and I took to her immediately. It was about a year ago that I learned her middle name, as well as her first name were the same as my sister's. I lost my sister last June; now I've lost another "sister!" I will always remember you my friend especially because you did my wedding hair the day of. That meant I had a fresh "do" to walk down the aisle! It meant so much to me. Our friendship was special. I will miss you and will think of you often! Rest in glorious peace my friend!!

I met Donna when I was 20 and she was 33. Over the years I followed her everywhere to her different salons and finally ended up at her home. We had many discussions about life in general. She is in a happy place now! I will miss her dearly!

For 40 years I followed Donna from one salon to the next. She was a good friend and my heart is broken with the news. I'm so happy I got to talk to her one last time last month. Rest in peace my friend. Keep Larry in line. Will miss you. Love Mert
