Edwin Fritz

Edwin R. Fritz, 79, of Kenhorst, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, in the Wyomissing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Shirley (Hoffman) Fritz with whom he celebrated 60 years of mariage. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Leroy and Anna (Whitehead) Fritz. He was a 1959 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School. Edwin was a volunteer fire fighter for many years where he was better known as Hot Dog, and was a lifetime member of the Kenhorst and Reiffton Fire Companies. Edwin worked in shipping for CarTech for 31 years until his retirement in 2001 and was a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and Nascar. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Brian E. Fritz, husband of Beverly, of MD, Suzanne L. Smith, wife of Stephen, of Shillington, and Craig R. Fritz, of Kenhorst. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dara, Trevor, Jeremy; great-grandchildren Colton and Elena Smart, two step-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, and his brother Richard L. Fritz. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with services beginning at 1:00 pm in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading, Pa 19606. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900 Arlington, VA 22202.
