Eric Vorgity Obituary

Eric J. Vorgity, 75, of Shillington, passed away on February 14, 2023 at Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Rosemary (Stoner) Vorgity, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Emil and Josephine (Dizenzo) Vorgity. After serving in the United States Army, Eric earned his Bachelor's degree at Muhlenberg College and his Master of Business Administration from Lehigh University. He retired from Glen-Gery Corporation. As a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Church, he volunteered his time as a parent, a coach, and financial team member. Eric loved hosting family meals, going out to dinner with friends and relatives, and vacationing with his family. A devoted husband and family man, he will be missed dearly by his wife and children: daughter, Amy (Vorgity) Arnold, wife of James L. Arnold of Sinking Spring; son, Steven Eric Vorgity, husband of Yaribey Rodriguez-Vorgity of Miramar, FL; four grandchildren: James S. Arnold, Emily Arnold, Allison Eirea, and Matthew Eirea; sister, Pati Schweikert (Denny) of Whitehall, PA; and sisters-in-law Suzann (Stoner) Gehris (Robert) of Reading and Carole Vorgity of Davenport. In addition, Eric was known to lend a helping hand to his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Emil and Michael Vorgity, and a sister, Susan Vorgity. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023 at St. John Baptist de la Salle Church in Shillington. Friends and relatives are invited to gather at the church from 9:00 until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Laureldale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home is honored to serve the Vorgity family. So many laughs at Glen-Gery. I always remember Eric coming into work in the morning singing "Good Mornin, Good Mornin, the best to you each mornin", we had so many great talks in his office and so many laughs. He made work a pleasure. My condolences to Rosemary - he spoke of you so often, and always with love. And he was so proud of his children. I have a recipe in my recipe box entitled "Eric Vorgity's Pound Cake" - the best ever. Rest in peace my dear friend and co-worker.
