of Reading, PA, died July 16, 2011, at her residence at Hawthorne Inn.
She was born Oct. 3, 1915, as the second child of Lewis Lytton and Caroline Bertha (Schutt) Fager, and lived in Reading, PA, the first 71 years of her life.
While employed at Lu-den's, she met her husband, Paul, who she married Nov. 10, 1951. They shared 31 years together before he died April 29, 1982.
Mrs. Aulenbach moved to Greenville in 1986 to be near her only sister and other family members. She continued her lifelong love of quilting, playing cards and working crossword puzzles. She loved being in the company of children, and regular visits from her two Greenville great-grandnephews, Caleb and Caedmon Jiva, and great-grandniece, Anna Louise Panhorst, always brought an endless smile to her face.
Mrs. Aulenbach was predeceased by her brother, Harold Raymond Fager; a nephew, Raymond P. Fager; a grandnephew, Christian Eric Fager; and a grandniece, Amy Ann Schwanke.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Helen B. and Mark A. Schwalm of Sun Prairie, WI. She is also survived by two nieces, Joanne L. Schwalm Jones of Taylors, SC, and Ann F. Schwalm Schwanke (Dr. Arlynn W. Schwanke) of Sun Prairie, WI; and four nephews: Dr. Karl E. Schwalm (Sharon) of Oakland, MD, Thom M. Fager (Bev) of Loveland, CO, Jerre E. Fager (Bobbi) of Loveland, CO, and David R. Fager (Barbara) of Springfield, MA. There are six grandnieces, seven grandnephews, 17 great-grandnieces/nephews and four great-great-grand-nephews/nieces.
A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at 2 p.m., July 25, 2011, at The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2600 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville, SC. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2600 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29615, the Ronald McDonald House, 706 Grove Rd., Greenville, SC 29605 or a charity of one's choice. The family will be at the home of niece, Mrs. John M. Jones, in Taylors, SC.
Cremation Society of South Carolina handled arrangements.
