George Nathan Houser

George Nathan Houser, 92, passed away Wednesday, March 1st, 2023, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Mary Rita (Brutosky) Houser, who he married August 8th, 1959. Born in Nuremburg, PA, he was the son of the late Martin and Ida Houser. George was a 1948 graduate of Nuremberg High School. He was a U.S. veteran, serving in the Marine Corps. George was a member of Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, Muhlenberg Twp. He was employed at Schell's Drive-In, Muhlenberg Twp., for 53 years before retiring as the manager in 2005 George enjoyed horse racing, playing cards with his grandchildren and going to his grandchildren's sporting events. He looked forward to every Wednesday when he and his wife would go to the house of Paul L. Schell to play cards In addition to his wife Mary, George is survived by three sons: Todd Michael Houser and his companion, Tracy; David, husband of Sherry (Miller) Houser, Myrtle Beach; and Robert, husband of Marlene Houser, Riverview Park. Eight grandchildren: Larry; Troy; Jillian; Marissa; Megan; Kayla; Gavin; and Joan Houser also survive him. George was predeceased by two siblings, Robert Houser, and Amelia Youcho. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 9th, 2023, at 11 AM, at Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3125 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. Entombment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Chapel of St. George. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church from 10 AM to 11 AM at the above address. Stitzel Family Funeral Homes, Laureldale, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
