She was the wife of
Stephen J. Deutsch, and they would have celebrated their 64th wedding anni-versary on Jan. 20, 2014. She was born in Lynn Township, a daughter of the late Stanley W.J. and Minnie M. (Burkhardt) Billig.
She was employed as a vacuum tube assembler for the former Western Electric Co., Allentown, from 1950 to 1967. She was a 1945 graduate of Slatington High School, later attending business school.
Helen was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Whitehall, Pa. She was a former asst. Girl Scout leader in Whitehall. From 1979 to 2008 she raised and trained 31 seeing-eye-dogs through the Lehigh County 4-H Seeing Eye Club.
Survivors besides her husband include a son, Michael S. Deutsch of Northampton, and a brother, Stanley Billig of New Tripoli, Pa. She was predeceased by a daughter, Roberta H. Deutsch, and siblings Mary Leiby and Elmer and Nevin Billig.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Faith
Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road, Whitehall, PA 18052 with a calling hour beginning at 10:00 AM. Rev. Michael J. Bodnyk
officiating. Private interment in Mickleys Cemetery, Whitehall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory are requested to Faith Luth. Church Memorial Fund, sent to the above address.

I was so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. I remember her with fondness as a member of the 4-H club. She was always smiling and always willing to help and encourage others. Sending prayers for all of her family. God bless you all.

I Absoutly loved Helen! This makes me very sad to hear this news. She was a wonderful women with a big heart. We always thought of Helen and steve as Grandparents to us while we were in the 4-h.
My heart goes out to Steve and their Children at this time.
