Born in Reading, he was a son of the late James R. Strunk Jr. and Evelyn M. (Bevitch)
Strunk. He was a Shillington High School graduate and a 65-year member of Bern
Reformed U.C.C., Leesport.
Jim was the owner/operator of Strunk & Strunk Auto Parts, Birdsboro, for 45 years, a supervisor at Reading Bone Fertilizer and in his earlier years worked at Dana
Corporation and Miller's Candy Plant.
He was life member of Grill Fire
Company, AAA Club, Eastern Region Parts Club past
president, a life member and past president of Parts, a 50-year member of Voter's Hall of Fame, flag bearer of O.E.S. Bird Chapter # 460, Birdsboro, member of Isaac Hiester Lodge No. 660 F&AM, Valley of Reading A.A.S.R. serving as Tyler, Tall Cedars - Neversink Forest # 32, Rajah Shriners and past president of Rajah Shrine Club. In 2012, Jim was presented the Meritorious Service Award (MSA) by the PA Council of Deliberation. He also was the assistant
Pennsylvania state chairman of the National Camping Travelers, member Family Motor Coaching Association, Coachmen Owners Association, Jay Gee Travelers, Good Sam RV Club, served as past president of Hi-12 Int'l and vice president of the Golden Eagles.
He is survived by his companion of 18 years, Martha E. Lloyd, Birdsboro; his children, James R. Strunk IV,
Robeson Township; Cindy A. Strunk, Pennside; his siblings: Martha Kappel, Sun City Center, Fla.; Thomas (Jean) Strunk, Muhlenberg Park; Joan Huber, Birdsboro; Nancy Campfield, Lake Wynona; Judy (Richard) Fix, Birdsboro; Herbert (Louise) Strunk; and Dean Strunk, Gouglersville. He was predeceased by siblings: Ruth Strunk, Evelyn Strunk, Joseph Strunk, Fern Fix, David Strunk and
Clarence Strunk (Rip).
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., One E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington. Masonic services by Isaac Hiester Lodge No. 660 F&AM at 10:45 a.m., followed by his funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. James P. Roth, his pastor.
Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
