residence. He was the husband of Nanci
L. (Petersdorf) Messersmith, to whom he was married for twenty-two years.
Born in Fleetwood, he was the son of the late Jonathan T. and Arlene (Noll) Messersmith.
John was a 1971 graduate of Fleetwood High School.
He worked for Carpenter Technology, Reading, until his retirement.
John was a member of Tri-County Wing Snappers,
Kutztown Aerodrome RC Squadron, and the Reading
Company Technical and Historical Society.
He enjoyed flying RC planes and building modular model railroads and displaying them.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his two children, John J. Messersmith III, fiance of Cara Kovalovick,
Lansdowne; and Jenifer L. (Messersmith), wife of Carl
Oswald, Reading; and two grandchildren, Kari and Micah. John is also survived by two sisters, Joan (Messersmith) Carleton, Everett, Mass.; and Debbie Messersmith, Oakland, Calif.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 4:30 p.m. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach St., Leesport.
A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home Friday 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

My deepest condolences to John's family. May the peace and love of our Savior & Messiah, Jesus be with everyone who ever knew of John. I remember him from the modular group at the Reading Co. Technical & Historical Society. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Godspeed John.
