He was known by many as "Doc." He lived life to it's fullest. He loved life, his family and friends, his lifelong profession as a family doctor, helping thousands of babies into the world and teaching young upcoming physicians some of the many things he learned along the way.
He was in practice in St. Louis, Mo., from 1962 to 1973, and in Hamburg from 1973 to 1998, and will be greatly missed.
He wished for his remains to be given for medical research. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Nov. 27, 2010, at the Hamburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, 22 Willow Road, Hamburg, PA 19526 (off of old Rt. 22)
In lieu of flowers, donations my be sent to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053, or to Blue Mountain Academy, Mountain Road, Hamburg, PA 19526.

Dr. Pifer was truly the finest man I ever knew. His patience, compassion, knowledge, kindness and faith I admired with all my heart. He stood by me in some of life's darkest days and also celebrated life's days filled with joy upon the birth of our two daughters. Immediately after they were delivered Dr. Pifer took the time to pray over each child. I will NEVER forget such a beautiful heart. This world is a better place because of him!! May we learn from the example he set. He not only spoke of his faith but he lived it! It is my vision that upon his entrance into heaven that God placed His hands on Dr. Pifer's shoulders and said--"Well Done!" God Bless Him and all whose lives he has touched.

Dr. Pifer was truly a blessed man and physician. The only reason I have my two beautiful children is because of him. When 4 GYN's said there would be children for us DOC said I'll see about that.....and he was right! God received a wonderful angel and we now have a Bright and Big star in the sky!

Dr. Pifer and I worked together at Community doing thew thing he loved-delivering babies. He also was the kind of man who gave from the heart, and he was full of the love given by his heavenly father. He is now in His presence, praising Him. What a blessing he was for all who knew him. Glad I was one of thme. May his love live on in all he touched.

I'll never forget the time we needed emergency stitches on Dr. Pifer's day off. We called him and he said to come right up to his office. I can still see him sliding across the floor in his stocking feet and smiling as he approached us. Brooke never did mind those stitches above her eye. He was a kind and loving doctor to all our children. May he rest in peace.
