John M. Tomaszewski John M. Tomaszewski, age 99, formerly of Hopewell Township, Aliquippa, PA, passed away from natural causes at the Reading Hospital in the early afternoon of December 24, 2021. He was the husband of the late Yoletta P. Tomaszewski. They were married September 19, 1953 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary September 2013. Sadly, his wife passed in October 2013. In November 2013, John came to live in Wyomissing and thrived for eight years much to the surprise of many. Born October 8, 1922, in Winburne, Clearfield County, PA, John was the son of the late Ludwig and Caroline (Skopowna) Tomaszewski. He graduated from Conemaugh Township High School, Davidsville, PA, in 1941. John proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during World War II as a Flight Radio and Radar operator in the China-Burma-India Theater. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Theater Ribbon, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with one Bronze Star. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, Class of 1949, School of Engineering. After graduation, he became certified as a Licensed Surveyor and Professional Electrical Engineer. As an Electrical Engineer, he worked for American Bridge, division of United States Steel (USX) Corporation of Pittsburgh for thirty-three years. He worked on the construction and the start-up of Electric Arc Furnaces and Vertical Lift and Bascule Bridges. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Aliquippa, PA, and later Sacred Heart Church, West Reading, PA. Surviving are his four daughters: Martha, wife of A.R. Vornadore, Fallston, MD; Marian, wife of Arthur M. Lemmi, Aliquippa, PA; Ann, wife of Dr. Robert D. Sutherland, Wyomissing, PA, with whom he resided; and Jan, wife of Anthony P. Klimek of West Chester, Ohio; eleven grandchildren: Michelle (Jay) Schmidt, Jeffrey (Kate)Vornadore, Philip (Vanessa) Vornadore, Brian (Jessica) Sutherland, Rebecca (Gage) Lindell, Emily (Conor) Larkin, Nathan (Sarah) Sutherland, Michael (Jennifer) Klimek, Jennifer Klimek (Ben Albrecht), David Klimek, Sarah Klimek, fiancé of Nicholas Denu, and eighteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Stanley and Joseph, and two sisters, Janet and Mary. A Mass of Christian Burial with full Military Honors will take place on Thursday, December 30th, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be private.
