He was the widower of Josephine (Santangelo) Zuwiala, who died in September 1988.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Vincent and Petronela (Duszkiewicz) Zuwiala.
He started his career with the Reading Railroad and later became a candy mixer for Luden's, a division of Hershey Foods, retiring in 1981.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with Battery B 432nd Anti Aircraft Artillery and Automatic Weapons Battalion during the North Africa, Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Northern Apennines and Po Valley Campaigns.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, Millmont.
He enjoyed swimming, golfing and bowling at a younger age. He liked to exercise and watch football.
He is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline A., wife of Robert Haltaman, Lititz; and a son, John V. Zuwiala Jr., Sinking Spring.
Other survivors include a sister, Stella Bilski.
There are also three grandchildren: Michelle, Michael and John; and five great-grandchildren: Ryan, Reily, Ethan, Nathaniel and Kylie.
He was predeceased by brothers: Vincent, Stanley and Anthony.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family with Father Larry Hess officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
