Karl Stoyer Obituary


Karl R. Stoyer, 82, formerly of Muhlenberg Twp., passed away Dec. 3, 2012, in ManorCare Health Services in Spring Twp., where he resided for 2 ½ years.

He was the husband of Lorelei A. (Moyer) Stoyer, who passed away Aug. 25, 2011.

Born in Reading on July 11, 1930, he was a son of the late William L. and Ethel O. (Levengood) Stoyer.

Karl was a 1948 graduate of Shillington High School. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve for four years. He was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church.

He was an appliance repairman working for Bob Deppen from 1948 until 1958, Harvey Ketner from 1958 until 1976, Eli Adams from 1976 until 1980 and then was self-employed from 1980 until retiring in 2007.

He is survived by a son, Karl R. Stoyer Jr., husband of Allison R. Stoyer, of Perry, FL; two daughters, Karen T. (Stoyer) Woodworth of Sinking Spring, and Barbara L. (Stoyer) Matz, wife of Barry L. Matz, of Bernville; five grandchildren: Karla J. Woodworth, William M. Woodworth Jr., Ciera V. Stoyer, Ashton N. Stoyer and Timothy R. Matz; and a sister, Joan B. (Stoyer) Bar-bon, wife of Frank W. Bar-bon, of Muhlenberg Twp.

In addition to his wife, Karl was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela J. Stoyer, on Oct. 16, 2010.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Bean Funeral Home, N. 16th & Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights. Friends and relatives will be received Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be made in Alsace Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605 or Alzheimer's Foundation, 237 Court Street, Reading, PA 19601. Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
