Kenny was the overseer of the activity /dining room at the Heim. He was the greeter to all newcomers, not because he was asked, but because he wanted to help the new residents transition. He was incredibly kind to my mother, Ethel Bucks, and to me, helping me get through some of her difficult times with dementia. I can't believe this young fellow is gone, it is not the same visiting at Berks Heim. Not just the staff and residents miss him, but the families of the residents. I know he is smiling and enjoying his new body in Heaven, and I hope that helps give the family hope and peace. Thank you, family, for sharing this wonderful man with a bunch of strangers who grew to call him "friend."

Hello to all of Kenney's children and Louise....this is Kimmy(your cousin Mikes' daughter). I would like to start off by saying how sorry I was for not being able to attend Uncle Kenny's services. It has been a long time since I saw all of you, and even longer since I saw Uncle Kenny. I have to say my memories go back to when I was pretty little. I remember when our family was as close as it could be for all the craziness that went on in it. I believe everyone really deep down cherishes those times we had together, however few there were. I want to say how I remember Uncle Kenny's smile and voice that will stay with me forever. It's funny how everyone remembers different things about a person. Rest assured I know he is at peace from here on out. I believe that is what happens when people pass on. I hope all of you do to. Please accept this message as mine, Shelly's and my mother Dolore's condolences. I know he will be missed.
Love, Kimmy, Shelly and Dolores Columbo

Kenny, I sit here and think of you and already miss you terribly! I knew you only a little over one year of your life which seemed to be too little time for an extraordinary man like you to have on this earth, but I know you believe in God as I do, we had that conversation many times. It made it easier for me to help you in the last days you spent with us at Berks Heim, knowing that you truly believed you were going to a better place, where there was no PAIN, and boy did you try to hide it, but I always knew anyway, and you didn't like it, that someone figured you out. We had a few run ins along the way, and we got past those quickly. What I will always hold near and dear in the little bit of time that I did get to know you was that you are truly an individual character unmatched by few others, your kindness and caring towards others who needed help did not go unnoticed, you neglected help for yourself to come and get it for others, don't worry about me, so and so needs you more. You Kenny will always leave your impression in my heart as a remarkable individual, I was proud to take you on your last ride through Berks Heim, it was my honor, and my very saddest day there. Okay Liz, I know I'm making you cry. Amanda, your pop pop thought you were growing up too fast, just like I do, you were just a little girl still when I first met you not so long ago. Tyler, as I sat and watched you today at your pop pops casket crying and trying to hold back the tears, so we would all think you were okay, you reminded me of none other than your pop pop, stoic as you were trying to be, but here is the thing Tyler, it is okay to cry, and your pop pop did that more than once in the time I knew him, for friends, family and so on, so cry my little friend, and do not be ashamed of it! Louise, it took some time for me to meet you, now here you are, and who will ever forget you, I am glad you are given the strength to know Kenny is in a better place, and I am so glad he gave you the talk at his last birthday party, Kenny knew his time on earth was coming up short, and he wanted you to know it, and I will never forget his words that night, Louise, "Take care of our little girl", and Liz to him you were always that, and he loved you dearly, until you were willing to let him go, he hung in there for you! I can not tell you all how honored I was to be able to know Kenny, learn from him and still make him smile, even two nights before he was no more able to do so. Kenny you will be missed so much! The dining room was packed for your encore tonight, we repeatedly played your DVD, and Moser was crying to, it's always good to see a grown man cry, he loved you too buddy! We all do!

My mother (Barbara Smith) and I would like to extend our deepest sympathies. Kenny had become a part of our extended family. His big heart and lively sense of humor helped greatly in my mothers stay at Berks Heim. It was appreciated more than he new, and he will be sorely missed.
