Dear Extended Mr. Musselman Family,
It just recently came to my attention that Mr. M. passed away in June. I am happy that I was a beneficiary of his long life of distinguished service, teaching and coaching! Mr. M. was one of the most important male role models with whom I came in contact during my time as a student in the Reading School District - others being Coach Carril, Coach Max Missbach and Dewey Boltz. Mr. M. was my 6th grade homeroom teacher and softball coach at Foos. He had a commanding presence and inspired me to be a better person, student and athlete. As a result of his leadership and against all odds, we won the 6th Grade City Softball Championship. Coach M. taught us competitiveness and collaboration. I have a great picture of that team taken on the front steps of Foos. (I can forward a copy if anyone would like to have one.) There is no greater gift that one can impart than leaving a vestige of oneself in the development of another. Mr. M., thanks for seeing the potential that I had. I hope that I am worthy of your distinguished military service and your commitment to transformative teaching. I can never repay you. RIP! Dear Scott and Susie,
I just read everyone else's messages and have the same feelings and thoughts about your dad. I was also new at Charles Foos in 6th grade and loved being in your dad's class. He taught me math and physical education (gym as it was called back then). He taught me to play volleyball which I'm still playing more than 50 years later. I followed in his footsteps and taught math and coached several sports. Enjoyed running into him when your parents were living at Windsor and McKnight. He liked to tease me and I'll always remember him laughing at me when we had to wear fancy dresses to school the day they were picking a May queen. He knew how I'd rather be playing a sport than being dressed up. May he rest in eternal peace now that his time on earth is done. May your happy memories and knowing how much others respected and loved him now bring you comfort.

My condolences to the family. We had just moved into the Charlie Foos school area before I went to sixth grade. Mr. Musselman made my difficult time easier. He was my first male teacher, and an easy person to look up to, even before I read about his Bronze Star.
