Laura Manwiller Obituary

Laura M. Manwiller, 84, Ruscombmanor Township, passed away March 27, 2009, in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township, where she was a patient for nine days.

Her husband, William H. Manwiller, passed away Aug. 19, 1991.

Born in Bethel, she was a daughter of the late James J. and Catherine R. (Deeds) Cass.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Pricetown, and the former Ruscombmanor Fire Company and Walnuttown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She and her sister-in-law, Mabel Angstadt, enjoyed sewing and made hundreds of lap robes and wheelchair bags for the residents of Berks Heim.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley J. Knittle, with whom she resided; two brothers, James A. Cass, Ruscombmanor Township; and John H. Cass, Alabama; and a sister, Barbara E. Young, Mohnton.

Other survivors include her grandchildren: Joel T. DeLong; James L. DeLong and Thomas L. DeLong; her great-grandchildren: Brandon, Matthew, Ian, Heather and Jamie; and a great-great-grandson, Kenneth W.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Catherine E. Meiser and Anna J. Lebo.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main St., Oley. Burial will be in Pricetown Cemetery. Friends and family may view on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m.

Shirley, I'm sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I'm in Florida now, so I won't be able to make it to the services. My prayers will be with you and your family. I've known your mother since I was 10 or 12 years old. I'm sure she will be missed.
