Born in Centre Twp., he was the son of the late Charles L. and Katie B. (Stoudt) Rick. Leon worked as a knitter for 25 years for Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing. He then work-ed for Heidelberg Nursery as a landscaper; and last worked for Christmas Pine Nursery, Bern Twp., until his retirement. He was a member of Salem (Belle-man's) Church, Centre Twp., where he was a choir member for many years. Leon was a well-known trumpet player, playing with the Centerport Band; Belle-man's Sunday School Orchestra; The Rhinelanders, and the Rajah String Band , of which he served as president in 1997 and 1998. He was a member of Chandler Lodge #227 F. & A.M.; Reading Consistory A.A.S.R. Valley of Reading; Rajah Shrine; Shoemakersville Senior Citizens; and the Patriotic Order Sons of America. Leon was also a member and president of the Fairview (Belleman's) Cemetery Board, Centre Twp.
Leon is survived by his companion, Dorothy H. (Schatz) Yeakel, with whom he resided; his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and Dottie's four daughters and families. He was predeceased by two brothers, Wayne and Norman Rick, and two sisters, Pearl (Rick) Brendel and Dorothy (Rick) Loose.
Services will be on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from Lei-bensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear) with Rev. Bruce W. Potteiger offiiciating. Burial will be in Fairview (Belle-man's) Cemetery, Centre Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Friday 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Chandler Masonic Lodge service will be held on Friday at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Belleman's Church Endowment Fund, 3540 Belleman's Church Road, Mohrsville, PA 19541. You remain my favorite Uncle and the memories of our times together on trips and hearing you play in the bands at Sunday school picnics and with The Rhinelanders are precious to me.

Thoughts and Prayers to a very special guy who was lucky enough to be with Dottie Yeakle and though very hard for all involved right now sure he is smiling down and saying to Dottie, you did all you could, and she did, he lived a long full life and we were lucky enough to share some of the birthdays and fun halloween parties, ect with our gang from AT&T where Dottie worked, we will so miss you Leon and all the good times with stay with us always, Fly with the angels and sure will find time up there to do some gardening which you so loved, our thoughts and prayers with you always, hugs Janet and Jay Fisher
