Lloyd Ruch Obituary

Lloyd D. Ruch 10 days shy of his 75th birthday on March 25, 2021, Lloyd Donald Ruch left this earth to be reunited with his beloved wife Anna whom he’s missed dearly for the last 23 years. His family is certain, there are a party and a penny-ante poker game rocking heaven today. Born the son of Robert C Ruch and Violet M (Hoffman) on April 4, 1946, in Allentown, PA he was the middle son of three children. He attended Allentown Central Catholic High School.  Lloyd dedicated 42 years of his life to Penske Truck Leasing. He spent the first part of his service at the Lehigh Street Shop and then moved to the Leesport Shop until retiring in 2009. He made many friends and had great times he cherished dearly.  Before moving to Berks County his family home was in Allentown where you would regularly find a front porch full of friends, a poker game on any given holiday, a meal that fed the armies of family and friends passing through, and laughter that made you feel warm and loved.  Anyone who knew Lloyd knew that he was the most loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather a family could ask for. He was a very giving man to anyone who needed help. There’s a sign that hung in the house that said “Ruch’s Boarding House .25 cents a night” because he and Anna often opened their home to those in need.   His family will miss him dearly for that there is no doubt.  He is survived by his children Dean P Ruch and his companion Wendy of Henrico, VA, Kimberly A Chilton and her husband Thomas of Blandon, PA and Thomas J Ruch and his wife Margaret of Emmaus, PA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren whom he loved so very much: Gabrielle, Aaron, Kyle, Logan, Luke, Matthew, and one precious great-granddaughter Raven. His sisters-in-law, Rita Ruch and Cathy Fox, and sister Mindy Henthorn along with many nieces and nephews and an Aunt and Uncle in Ohio. He is predeceased by many waiting to welcome him home: Parents, Robert & Violet, His loving wife Anna M (Vestos), and his brother Bob Ruch. He left us quietly, his thoughts not known. He left us memories; we are proud to own. Please treasure him, God, in your garden of rest. For when here on earth, he was one of the best. Services: Public visitation from 9:30-11 am Friday, April 2nd at Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 274 N Krocks Rd. Allentown, PA. A private family service to follow and interment at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. www.stephensfuneral.com

I was a young man when I started working at Penske Truck Leasing as a truck technician. Lloyd was my supervisor. He was a lot of fun. An interesting character to say the least. My condolences to the Ruch family. R.I.P. big guy.
