He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Birdsboro. He was a 1943 graduate of Wilson High School, West Lawn.
He retired from Agway, previously known as Reading Bone Fertilizer, and having previously been a dairy farmer on the family farm in Lower Heidelberg Twp.
He is survived by five sons: Mark Riegel, husband of
Cynthia; Bruce Riegel, husband of Christine; David Riegel, husband of Marla; Matthew Riegel, husband of Tamara; Seth Riegel, husband of Wenonah; a brother, Ralph Riegel; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Amelia Speicher.
