He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley L. (Weisser) Scornavacchi.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Peter N. and Angeline (Azzolina) Scornavacchi.
Michael was last employed by Pennsylvania Department of Health, where he was an inspector, until retiring in 2000. He was previously employed by Gilbert Associates and involved with environmental sales.
Michael served in the Army in the 101st Airborne Division.
He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and received a bachelor's degree in biology from Kutztown University. He also attended Columbia University in New York.
Michael was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church.
He is also survived by a daughter, Linda A., wife of Charles M. Ebersole, Mohnton; and three sons: Thomas M., Reading; Peter F., husband of Tina M. (Burd-Gosch), Exeter Township; and Michael A., husband of Diane E. (Miller-Quire), St. Lawrence.
Other survivors include a sister, Angeline, wife of David Sweigart, Sinking Spring.
There are also 12 grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Auman Funeral Home, Reiffton. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. Friends may call Saturday, 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
