He was the husband of the late Mary Respecta and the late Mary Stunz.
Born in Summit Hill, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Bak) Soloman.
He worked for the Parish Press Steel and then for Dana Corp. in Reading for over 25 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre and also served during the Korean War in the United States.
Michael was a member of the Summit Hill American Legion and a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Reading.
Surviving are sisters Nancy Chabala of Summit Hill, Irene Trojan of Jeanette, Frances Tyahla of McLean, VA and Martha Popp of Bethlehem; step daughters, Sandra Reinert and her husband George of Hereford, and Judy Lucas and her husband Barry of Reading; grandchildren, Ricky Emerich, Lori Mauger, Jeffrey Zeiber, Tracey Polocheck, Michael Shannon, and James Kofroth.
He was preceded in death by brothers Frank, John and Andrew; sisters, Mary Olsovsky, Helen Moyer, Anna Zulick and Kathryn Soloman; a step daughter, Mary Ellen Mumma.
Funeral service is Friday, June 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Thomas J. Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell St., Summit Hill with the Rev. James Burdess officiating. Military interment will follow at Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Summit Hill.
Calling Hours are Friday morning from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.
Summit Hill American Legion Service is Friday morning at 10:45 AM.
