Miriam E. Schaeffer

Miriam E. (Gehris) Schaeffer Miriam E. (Gehris) Schaeffer, 98, of West Lawn, passed away Saturday March, 6, 2021, just days before the three year anniversary of the passing of her husband, Kenneth A. Schaeffer. Mim and Ken shared a loving and devoting marriage full of laughs, travel and a partnership for over 73 years, now reunited once again. Miriam was born in 1922 to the late Joseph L. Gehris, Jr. and Edna E. (Lutz) Gehris, was raised in Reading, and graduated from Reading High School in 1940. She attended the State Teachers College at Kutztown University, graduating in 1944. She was an elementary school teacher who taught for the Bern Township, Reading, and Neptune, NJ, school districts. Miriam had a love of the beach, collecting seashells and was especially passionate about music. She was a quick witted, creative soul, who took great enjoyment in crafting, daily crossword puzzles, and entertaining family and friends. Her memory will be forever treasured by her daughters, Lynne and Diane, and her grandchildren, Jonathan, Jennifer, Dahlia, Allia, and Salman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Joseph L. Gehris III. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oceana towards ocean conservation at oceana.org. Services for Miriam will be webcasted from her obituary page on the Kuhn Funeral Home Website on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, beginning at 11:00 AM.
