Nancy Lynne Wolf Mellon

Nancy Mellon Obituary

Nancy Lynne Wolf Mellon, nee Forman, nee Wolf, age 76, died at her home on Saturday, April 29, 2023, after fighting a year-long battle with multifocal glioblastoma. She was a true warrior and kept her spirits up throughout the fight. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Forman, sister Barbara Wolf, sister Mary Jean Noon, brother Greg (Jay) Wolf, and her companion Bob Plank. Nancy grew up in Wyomissing Hills, Pennsylvania. After high school she attended Kutztown State College where she met her dearest friend, Jackie Fisher. Nancy traveled to the west coast for a bit after college, but ended up back east in Philadelphia where she met her first husband, Jerry Forman, the father of her daughter Jenny. Nancy later moved to the Reading area and lived there for the remainder of her life. An avid reader and lover of literature, Nancy taught high school English at Fleetwood High School for many years. She loved her students and always enjoyed telling stories about them. While at Fleetwood, she also supervised the school yearbook, Academic Challenge, and school newspaper. But literature was just one of Nancy's loves. She was a superb photographer, and many were lucky to receive her photos as gifts. Nancy was also passionate about music. She played in the rhythm section of an all-girl band, "Cosmic Bush," for a short while and loved going to concerts as well as discovering new musicians. Her second husband, Seth Mellon, was a gifted saxophone player. Finally, Nancy loved the eastern shore and enjoyed many summers in her old waterman's house in Chincoteague, VA. She never missed a chance to watch and photograph the amazing wildlife, and of course, the ponies each year. Nancy's love for life was contagious. People were drawn to her and her passion for the things of life. Her wit was famous, and one always found her…or left her…laughing. Nancy will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves a hole in the hearts of those who love her.

Another one of Nancy's friends and I met on 12/17 and mentioned to each other that we miss Nancy. She's often, as is her daughter, in my thoughts. One memory is of our dancing at the prom for which she was the advisor. We may have had more fun than the seniors as we danced to Billy Ocean's Caribbean Queen. Our after school dinners were great stress relievers. I'll remember forever how much I loved her. Her friendship was a treasure.

I will miss my good friend and concert lover more than I can imagine. She was more like a sister to me. I will think of you when I take my grandson to the Leesport pool, where we spent many summers together there. There is a big void in my heart and she will be lived forever.

I have not seen nor spoken to Nancy since high school but none of this passion for life surprises. Her irrepressible spark for all things was very evident even then. I don´t see her resting in peace but rather bursting with life and spirit , refreshed in a new realm

My deepest sympathies to Nancy´s family. I was a high school student of hers for several English classes. A devoted English teacher, her love of women´s literature was inspirational. Never new about her other passions, but it fits. Again, my condolences.

Nancy was a dedicated and gifted teacher who helped her students develop critical thinking skills. She was a dear friend who enriched my life through her kindness, laughter, thoughtfulness, and creativity. I'll cherish all my memories of her. My life was better for my having known and loved her for more than forty years. I will miss her forever.
