He was the husband of Jennie S. (Sayer) Piccone, who died July 4, 1996.
Born May 19, 1922, in Reading, he was a son of the late Deadato and Grace Marie (Pirelli) Piccone.
He worked as a roller at Carpenter Technology for 37 years, retiring in 1982.
Nicholas was a 1940 graduate of Reading High School.
He was a member and elder of Peace Lutheran Church, 1728 Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601.
Nicholas was an Army veteran of World War II, serving at the rank of staff sergeant. He was in Company C, 817th Tank Destroyer Battalion, and was a Purple Heart recipient in the Battle of the Bulge.
He had the first hole in one at Willow Hollow Golf Course on Sept. 14, 1963. He recorded two more holes in one during his golfing career.
Surviving are three sons: David N., husband of Tina Piccone, Newmanstown; Gary L., husband of Judy Piccone, Yellow House; and Nicholas Piccone Jr., Mohnton.
Other survivors include a brother, Rocco, husband of Ruth Piccone, Reading; and two sisters, Rose, wife of Peter Kaisouglas, Sinking Spring; and Helen Madera, West Reading.
There also are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Piccone.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in John P. Feeney Funeral Home Inc., Reading. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading. Friends are invited to call Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
