He was the husband of Evelyn Ruth “Lynn” (Armstrong) Fritz, whom he married April 11, 1959.
Born Oct. 19, 1932, in Park Place, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Norman Lester Sr. and Elva Mae (Foose) Fritz.
Mike was a 1951 graduate of Mahanoy Township High School, Schuylkill County.
He was employed as a welder and in the tool room by Parish Structural Products Division of Dana Corp., Reading, for 36 years, retiring in 1994.
Mr. Fritz served in the Army during the Korean War in the corps of engineers.
He was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, Mahanoy City.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Mark Allen, fiance of Elizabeth J. Hall, South Heidelberg Township; and Scott David Fritz, Ruscombmanor Township.
Also surviving are a brother, Cyril W., husband of Kathy Fritz, Florida; a sister, Judith A. (Fritz), wife of Bruce Yiengst, Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County; and three half sisters: Patricia (Igo) Dysput, Diane (Fritz) Lorrish and Ann Marie (Fritz) Hinkson, all of Reading.
Other survivors include a niece and godchild, Jeanette (Yiengst) Amershek; nieces, Susan and Karen Mesch and Lori and Donna Fritz; nephews, Christopher Mesch and Bryan Yiengst; and a grandniece, Allison Amershek.
Mike was predeceased by a brother, David Fritz; and a half brother, Daniel Fritz.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with the Rev. Fred T. Crawford officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will be private in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.

My sincere sympathy goes out to all of the Fritz family. My clearest memory of Mike is when he came home on leave during the Korean war. He was the hero all dressed up in his army uniform and sharing some of his army experiences with us younger kids. May you rest in peace Mike.
