He was a loving and
devoted husband to Charlotte Ann (Himmelreich) Knerr.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late J. Edward and Florence E. (Frey) Knerr.
He was a Foreman/Roofer for Philadelphia Roofers Union, retiring in 1990 and was a bartender and trustee at the Pennwyn Club in Mohnton.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Knerr was a loving father to Debra L., wife of Donald R. Longlott Jr. of Mt. Penn, Donna L. Strauch, at home, and Ralph E. Knerr Jr., husband of Katie M. Knerr of Wernersville.
He also was a loving grandfather to Barron, Jesse, Brandi, Katie, Chad and Ethan, as well as a loving great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, D.J., on Aug. 28, 2005.
He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Gilmore of Flying Hills.
Ralph was a gentle and kind man who was also know as "Rotten Ralph" to his friends.
Services from Bean Fu-neral Home, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Paul L. Jones officiating. Entombment in Pleasant View Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, from 9 to 10 a.m.

I delivered Meals on Wheels to Ralph and Charlotte and always enjoyed talking about Philly sports with both of them. In spite of declining health, Ralph was always very cordial and positive. Sorry to hear of your loss.
