Born in Colebrookdale Twp., he was a son
of the late Lynfred B. and Mary (Moyer) Landis.
Ray served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1995 from the Gov. Mifflin School District after 14 years as a custodian. He started working as a pretzel baker, auto mechanic, and while at Penn Optical, he was a machine operator, set-up man and lastly as a foreman.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church Reading. Ray was very active in Scouting. He started in Pack # 204 serving as their cubmaster and as their committee chairman and later serving with Troop # 221. Ray was active with Wood Badge and Kittatinny Lodge 5 Order of the Arrow. He served as a bus master for a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico, and was instrumental with starting the Hawk Mountain Council Cub Scout Day Camp. He was a life member of the Berks County Fire Police Association and served as Fire Police Captain for 12 years with Keystone Fire Company No. 1, Shillington.
In addition to his loving wife, Grace, he is survived by his 3 sons: Alan R., husband of Linda Landis, Mountain Top, Luzerne Co.; Mark L., husband of Eileen Landis, Sinking Spring; Scot L., husband of Debbie Landis, Shillington; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his bothers, Lynfred and Ralph Landis.
Friends and relatives may call on Friday, May 4, 2018, from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. followed by his funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington.
Interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.

Ray was a great volunteer for scouting. He developed Cub Day camp. I was a staff member of the first year. It grew into a successful part of the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation. God bless his family. I will always remember all he achieved in his life
