He was the husband of Ellen R. (Achenbach) Hartline. They were married on June 9, 1956, and celebrated 59 years of marriage. Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Paul D. and Ruth (Hain) Hartline.
Roger was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired on July 31, 1978, after twenty years of service. While serving in Vietnam, he was a Bronze Star recipient.
Roger was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perry Twp.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a brother, Paul G. Hartline, Foley, Alabama; a sister, Linda Clay, Stoney Creek Mills; and several nieces and nephews.
Roger was predeceased by a son, Charles Allen Hartline, who died in 1971.
A Memorial Service for Roger will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. from Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 354 Zion's Church Road, Shoemakersville, PA 19555. A visitation with the family will be held in the church Sunday, July 12, 2015, from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp.
