Sylvia Corbett

Sylvia Shirley Corbett, 89, formerly of Birdsboro, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, of natural causes in the Golden Living Center, Exeter Township.

Born Sept. 7, 1920, in Mont Clare, she was a daughter of the late Theodore W. and Annie (Bard) Fitzcharles.

She was the wife of 59 years of the late Burl H. Corbett, who died Aug. 19, 2002.

After attending Phoenixville High School, Sylvia worked in retail and for Dettra Flag Co., where she was chosen as Miss Dettra Flag.

When her husband returned from World War II, they took up residence in Birdsboro, raising two children there.

She was later employed by Duvid Corp., of Birdsboro, and prior to retirement, she worked as a secretary for Wyomissing Professional Clinic of Physical Therapy.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Claudia J. Bahorik, wife of Dr. J. Wesley Bahorik, Robesonia; and her son, Burl Neal Corbett, Albion.

There are also four grandchildren: Anson Corbett, Amber Corbett, Heather Corbett and Catherin Corbett, all of Berks County; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Thursday, Aug. 26, from 9:30 at Hetrick-Mull Funeral Home, 27 E. High St., Womelsdorf. Celebration of Life services will begin at 11:30 a.m., by Pastor E. Michal Gayer. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. Flowers are welcome.
