He was married to Catherine M. (McCoy) Truitt for 58 years before her passing in November of 2005. Born in Willards, Md., he was a son of the late Ray D. and Annie May (Williams) Truitt.
He retired from the former Armstrong Co., Kuhnsville, where he worked in maintenance.
Bill was a 50 year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Allentown before joining Heidelberg United Church of Christ in Slatington. Bill enjoyed volunteering often for the Church and for the Germansville Fire Co.
He was a member and past Master of New Temple Lodge No. #720 F.&A.M. As a member of the Rajah Yacht Club, Bill was a past Commander and twice served as Treasurer.
He honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Army, where he served in the 78th Division during WWII. He was a life member of the Topton American Legion.
Survivors: Sons: Williams F., Jr. and wife Rebecca of Alburtis and Howard R. of Mertztown; daughter Harriet M., wife of Gerald Lambert of Germansville; brother D. Thomas of Wyoming, Del.; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; and three step great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Harold, and a sister, Etta.
Services are 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012, at Keller Funeral Home, 6776 Madison St., New Tripoli, with the Rev. Karen A. Yonney officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home, with Masonic Services at 5:45 p.m. Interment will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, New Tripoli.
Contributions may be made to the Heidelberg U.C.C. Memorial Fund, 5187 Irvin Rd., Slatington, 18080.

I am greatly saddened by Bills passing. Two weeks ago at Church he said he wasnt feeling real good, but I did not anticipate this. He was a good friend and will be missed.
