Dietmar Renker
Dieter leaves behind his cherished wife, Lois, high school sweethearts, married for 72 years, and still in his wallet is a time-worn junior year photograph of her.
They purchased their farm on Argonaut Road in 1953, growing pears and walnuts. In 1990 Dieter became the driving force behind establishing Renker Farms, selling fruits, vegetables, and flowers he had grown. With his wife and family working alongside him, the farmstand became a popular and beloved local attraction. Many people came by just to talk with the farmer.
Dieter is predeceased by his mother and father and his sister, Eleanor Lett. He is survived by his wife, Lois Brixie Renker; brother, Alfred Renker; children, Robert Renker (Karen), Gail Larson (Larry), Susan Bray (Brian); grandchildren, Kevin Renker, Megan Renker, Jeff Larson (Heather), Allison Bray (Nic), Emily Bray (Evan), and a great grandson, Martin Dietmar Renker. In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews and their extended families.
The family would like to thank friends and neighbors who supported them during a difficult time. They would also like to express their gratitude to the nurses of Hospice Services for their care and guidance.
Per Dieter's request, there will be no services. If you would like to honor him, plant something for the bees and butterflies.

We've lost our much-loved brother-in-law, who will always have a special place in our hearts. His gentle manner, his tender voice, his love of family and the land, and his dedication to growing food and flowers to share with all, made an unforgettable impression on his community and family. Dieter was the embodiment of small town spirit, caring, and friendliness that is valued by all who have lived it. So long, Dieter; you will be missed.

Sad to learn if your father´s passing. While in Burlington this weekend, my folks recalled their visit with him on your family farm. They have a walnut seedling growing in their garden that was going to be pulled and thrown away. After reading your dad´s obituary and suggestions for memorials, we decided to rescue the walnut seedling, take it back to DSM, and replant it on our farm in memory of your dad!

Sue, the first time I met your dad when we went to the farm for pumpkins. He had such a pride and help the kids pick out some pumpkins. Then your mom helped my granddaughter pick out some flowers . I was so glad I got the opportunity to visit the farm many times and interact with them. My heart breaks for both you and your whole family. My family had planned to do some planting this weekend and we will do it in honor of your dad

Sharing time with Dieter and his delight in showing off his precious collection of rocks was so special. He had such a twinkle and loved to tell stories. He was a very special man and will be truly missed.
