George Robert Berejkoff Obituary

On Wednesday, May 28, 2008, George Robert Berejkoff passed away peacefully at his home in Kelseyville, where he had lived for the the past 30 years.
George led an exciting and full life beginning with his birth in San Francisco on Nov. 18, 1928 to his Russian emigrant physician parents, Konstantine John Berejkoff and Paraskovia Lamochkina Berejkoff.
While his parents and grandmother predeceased him, George is survived by his loving wife, Sandrea Croman-Berejkoff; sons, Michael (Kari) of Walnut Creek, and Leo (Susan) Berejkoff of Placerville; daughter, Vanessa Berejkoff of Newport, R.I.; stepson, Gene (Kelly) Croman of Windsor; stepdaughters, Jeanine (Mark) Almind of Santa Rosa and Cindy Shephard of Cobb; many grandchildren on both sides and great-grandchildren. His long time friend, Mel Leathley of Danville will miss him dearly.
George loved the military life-style which began with his enrollment at age 7, in the San Rafael Military Academy where he lived until his junior year in high school. Weekends and holidays were spent with his parents and grandmother in their San Francisco home. He continued his education at San Francisco City College and then joined the Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War, 25th Division, 37th Regimental Combat Unit.
In 1961 he graduated from the police academy and subsequently joined his friend Mel at the San Francisco Police Department in 1962. His years of dedicated public service included a position of International Police Advisor with the State Department of Internal Affairs, a continued presence with the International Association of Chiefs of Police and as a board member of the Riviera West Home Owners Association. George was awarded many medals and commendations for his accomplishments.
He was known as the consummate host with some of the best 4th of July, New Years and theme parties in the neighborhood. George was well-liked by everyone who met him. He was intelligent, well traveled, experienced, witty, firm, gentle, gracious and he always smelled great!
A Veteran's Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturaday, June 21 at Chapel of the Lakes, 1625 N. High St., Lakeport.

"I have always known that at last I would take this road, but yesterday I did not know that it would be today." Narhihira (825-880 AD)

Sandy, Our lives can change in an instant. Joe and I are so very sorry that yours changed so suddenly and unexpectedly. It is always hard to lose those who have given us love and brought joy into our lives. Joe and I feel fortunate that we were able to share in some of the zest for life that you and George so generously gave to friends and neighbors. May you remember the good times during this time of healing.

Dear Sandra,

I was surprised when you told me today that George passed away. I used to enjoy talking to him whenever I deliver certified mail to him. I remember him telling me that if there is any mail that needs his signatures, he told me to ring him so he could meet me down to your mailbox. What a considerate man he was. That makes my job really easy!!!

He used to talked to me in tagalog (just the basic Filipino languages) and to me, that's very surprising but I never bother to ask him how he learned our dialect? He jokes a lot! I will surely missed him dearly.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families especially during this time of grieving.

Love and Prayers,

Eddie

George is a great guy. I say IS because I believe he is still with us, but in spirit, watching over those he loves. I enjoyed many hours helping him with his computer problems and will miss his company greatly.
