Ivan Lubich

1936 - 2018

Ivan Lubich Ivan passed away on December 16, 2018 at the age of 82. He was born on January 5, 1936 in San Jose. After graduating from Mountain View Union High School he continued working at the family orchard and dry yard. He married Judith Jackson on May 11, 1958 and a short time later was drafted. After a short stint in the Army, he took his new bride and his love of farming to Lakeport to grow pears in Scott's Valley; and never left. Ivan liked to work hard and play hard. In addition to tending his orchards, he also had a commercial spraying and roto-tilling business. He had many friends and many good times and memories. He enjoyed Colorado hunting trips with his friends, cooking for various events over the years, his afternoon porch crowd gatherings and farming. Ivan's family and heritage were very important to him. He was able to travel to Argentina and Yugoslavia to visit with family from the "home" country. He also enjoyed the annual Croatian lamb feed at Napredak in San Jose and his annual trip to Galt, to share his wonderful Cioppino with family. Ivan was a very generous and giving person. He loved to dry pears and persimmons as well as canning olives and asparagus to give away. He will be greatly missed. As many people have said: He is one of a kind! Ivan was predeceased by his parents, sister and brother-in law and long time companion, Sally Bauer. He is survived by his sons, Mark (Kim), and Scott; grandsons, Darren (Hailey), Kevin, and Bradley (Marissa); great grandchildren Ellie, Luke and Lincoln and many loving nieces and nephews. We would like to thank his many Doctors and E.R. Nurses for your care and patience. We would also like to thank his community of friends for all of your time, meals and mechanical skills you provided to keep him and his operation running. A Celebration of Life will be held on Ivan's birthday, January 5th at Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport at 3:00 PM.
